Where it all begins...

Coffee is an intergal part of our society. But, not everyone was always a fan - at least initially. Pope Vincent III was told that coffee was the Devil’s drink, so he decided to give it a tiny taste before putting through the decree that would ban the drink. That taste was enough to turn the religious leader around on the topic, leaving him to state that the drink was “so delicious it would be a pity to let the infidels have exclusive use of it.” Thankful we are that coffee is now one of the most popular drinks in the world.

The key to delightful coffee is the roasting process, to which we owe the delicately flavored oils that speak to our palates. The roasting process influences the taste of the beverage by changing the coffee bean both physically and chemically. So at Utopia Coffee, we make sure our beans are as fresh as possible. We have each crop shipped to our doorstep green and unroasted. Then, we carefully choose each bean that goes into our blends. Once the beans have been roasted, they will quickly begin to lose their flavor. That's why all of our coffee is roasted in small batches in-house - to bring the best flavor to your cup.
